What I’m Wearing
After watching Emma in theaters right before the chaos, I was completely taken with the aesthetic and design of the film. I have found myself being drawn to soft, vintage florals, smock detailing and airy fabrics. There is a dreamy atmosphere that comes with dressing with a flare of a different time.
Often times, there is a fear of looking too “costumey” when dressing with a certain era in mind. But I think the secret to mastering such looks is add a few modern details. For example, wearing a floral smocked dress with an empire cut may remind you of the regency era, but a lower neckline and current hair and makeup can make the look feel more modern and fresh.
Don’t be afraid to find inspiration from times and eras other than the current one. Creating a unique style and aesthetic even for your own personal closet can make dressing up for the day so much more fun. Whether your style is modern and trendy, or classic and chic. Staying true to yourself and your style will bring an added pleasure to your daily endeavors.
