The weather during this time of year can be so fluctuating. The summer heat might still be in full blaze, but that carefree summer attitude might start to dwindle. I feel like I just got slapped in the face by fall. With the start of a new school year and talks of the pumpkin spice latte returning to Starbucks, I feel like we are starting a new round of routine without much warning.
In my last post, I talked about how you really can continue to get away with summer prints and fabrics because the weather just isn’t on the same page as our schedules. How rude! So the truth is there really isn’t a right or wrong way to dress during the month of August. Ready to jump into wearing booties? Go for it girl! You might sweat your little toes off, but for the sake of fashion, why not! I wanted to share this transition look with you because you can really make it work for wherever you live. If you haven’t had enough of your summer florals and bright colors, you do not have to give up on them yet. But today I am bringing you a few tips for dressing a little more fall forward if you are ready to make that transition.
1. Change Your Color Palette
The easiest way to get more fall vibes out of your clothing is to start wearing more neutral or fall colored items. Staying neutral is a safe bet during anytime of transition in life and fashion!
2. Light Layering
Throwing a soft cardigan or classic denim jacket over your look can not only bring dimension to your outfit, but also prepares you for blasting AC or confusing temperatures.
3. Structured Work Bags
A structured bag is not only fabulous for keeping all your essentials in place, but it also adds a chic factor to your look. I love a good Tory Burch tote for keeping all my work planners, notebooks, and laptop organized.
4. Black Accessories
When in doubt, go for black! Black accessories will never fail you. Even if you keep the rest of your look fresh and colorful, the black will contrast and bring a more serious tone to the ensemble.
I must admit that I am starting to get that fall fashion itch! But this 100 degree heat doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon. So you bet I will be using these tips to get me that fall fix without the sweat!
