I have started to get a little bit of the Spring cleaning fever already. It seems a little too soon to be feeling this way, but the heart wants what it wants 😉 Since moving over a month ago, we finally made a lot of progress in the apartment this weekend. We are done hanging pictures, putting away odds and ends, but now it is time to organize like a mad woman! I am big on purging. I actually took a GIANT bag to goodwill Monday, which feels like a load lifted off of me (literally). But all this Spring cleaning has got me thinking about other ways I want to update my life and look.

I have gotten a lot better with change throughout the years, and I have to say a big reason for that is my husband. He is constantly encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things. But I also know what is within my limitations. At the end of the day, I want to stay true to myself. I like the changes I make to reflect me and my personality, while still giving a feeling of newness. For example, about a year and a half ago, I tried the “coffin nail” trend. It was kind of fun, but it just didn’t feel like me. I gave it a little longer, but eventually switched back to my regular gel manicure. It felt like a breath of fresh air to go back to something that was comfortable. So when it comes to changing your look, stay true to yourself, but also be willing to go just a little outside your element.

Here are a couple of things you can try to change your look this Spring!

1. Get a Fresh Cut and Color

Yesterday, I had a total hair makeover (these pictures were taken prior). And I felt like there was an extra bounce in my step as I walked out of the salon! I hate getting haircuts, so I definitely wasn’t thrilled about the idea, but I knew that my hair needed a healthy cut and it was kind of nice for a change.

2. Switch Up Your Usual Outfit Color Choices

If you are normally a neutral gal, try switching it up and wearing a pop of color here and there. Go for a more muted tone, if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed. I feel very comfortable in bright colors, but I am wanting to wear more soft shades to change it up.

3. Treat Yourself to Some New Makeup Goodies

As I talked abut in my post How to Update Your Signature Makeup Look simply buying a new lipstick can really give you a whole new look. If you are curious about some of my favorite makeup items, check out THIS POST.

4. Try a New Nail Polish Shade

This kind of goes hand in hand with switching up your wardrobe colors. But it is often a lot less intimating to go outside of your box with a new nail polish color. Worst case scenario, you are not crazy about it, and you try a different one next time! Paying a little extra attention to your hands can actually bring you a little extra happiness. For example, when you glance down at your hands while typing and see a bright color, you might just find a smile creep across your face!

5. Change Your Attitude

Our attitudes play a HUGE role in how we look and feel. By thinking more positive and throwing a smile on that face, you will not only bring more joy to those around you, but you will also be more beautiful on both the inside and outside.

What are some of your favorite ways to update your look? Let a girl know!

Happy Wednesday!
