How an item looks on our unique frame has a huge impact on whether we enjoy a specific style or not. There are certain fashion items that we “write off” because we didn’t like the way “X” style looked on us that one time we tried it on. It can be challenging to get to know your body and figure out what works and what doesn’t. But there are a few items that really can be flattering on all shapes and sizes!
A wrap dress is a universally flattering style that can compliment all women’s shapes. We have the lovely Diane Von Furstenberg to thank for inventing the iconic wrap dress. Because of the nature of the dress having an adjustable tie, you have a lot more freedom in finding a size that will work. You can often get away to going up a size as you can always tie the waist tighter for more definition. If you are more broad in the shoulders and chest, you may want to consider sizing up as well to give you that coverage you desire. Dress blends that include spandex will allow for more flexibility and movement. I personally enjoy a pollster (not the 80s style) for occasion dressing (like a summer wedding) or a linen blend for the summer months.
I wore this Rhode wrap dress a few weeks ago for a baptism, and got so many compliments on the style. The puffed sleeves were such a great touch and I felt like I was having a true Ann of Green Gables moment. I was also able to find a similar style for under $50 that I think you will love as well.
Wrap Dresses at All Price Points
The only factor to keep in mind with a wrap style is the sleeves. Choose a sleeve that feels comfortable to you.
