What to Wear to a Shower |Wedding, Bridal, Baby|

Tis the season to be married! Around this time of year everyone and their mother is either getting married, engaged or having a baby! Just this last weekend, I had a bachelorette party, wedding, and baby shower all in one weekend! If you haven’t read it yet, check out my How I Pack for a Trip post where you can see the outfits I brought for my trip!

With all the events that come with the Spring and Summer months, It can get overwhelming trying to figure out how to dress for all the different occasions. I thought I would put together a little guide to help you decide what to wear to your events that makes you look good without breaking any “rules!”

1. Absolutely No White!

I am pretty sure we all should know this by now. But if you are attending any kind of bridal or wedding event, you should NEVER wear white!

2. Avoid Dark Colors

Bridal showers bring excitement and joy to the bride and her family. You want to keep the atmosphere light and fun by wearing colors that will go with the vibe of the event.

3. Be Modest

Remember that the bride’s closest friends and family members will be attending the event. Be respectful and remember to stay classy!

If you are the Bride: Obviously a white dress is the best option. Choose a style that compliments your setting. If it is a more formal event, then go with a more formal dress and vice versa. And for shoes, I would opt for either wedges or heels.

1. Think Girly and Classy

I think it is really lovely to go with a dress or skirt when attending a baby shower. Having a child is the most feminine thing a woman can do. So dress the part and wear something feminine but classy!

2. Dress Comfortably

At baby showers you often will be walking around mingling and playing fun baby related games. Because you might be force to do something silly in front of the group, I suggest wearing something that gives you flexibility!

3. Avoid Overly Structured Pieces

If you are really close with the mommy to be, it probably isn’t the time to be showing off your tight figure! Go for more airy pieces as opposed to tight or structured styles.

4. White Is Okay

There really is no problem with you wanting to wear white to a baby shower. Since white symbolizes purity and innocence, I think it is safe to say that if your friend is having a baby, we are well past that point!

If you are the Mommy to Be: Choose a dress that flatters you baby bump. Add a belt or choose a dress style that emphasizes your waist. If you know the gender of the baby, it might be fun to wear a color that celebrates the sex of the baby. Floral patterns are also a nice option when figuring out what to wear.
