You have to admit that Dr. Seuss really did have a way with words. Have you ever read, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! If you haven’t, I highly recommend giving it a read. Yes, I realize that I am asking you to read a children’s book. But trust me on this one. I read that book to my class a couple of months ago, and it took everything I had inside me not to ball my eyes out.
There are so many amazing quotes in that small story that we need to hear even as adults.
“You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed.
You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead.
Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best.
Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
Except when you don’t.
Because, sometimes, you won’t.”
Life sure does take us on some bumpy roads, doesn’t it? But the beauty of life is that you never know what joy lies right around the corner. As funny as it sounds, this dress is what got me thinking about Dr. Seuss. Because we were not made to blend in, we were made to be profoundly ourselves. And I think that Valentine’s Day is also about loving yourself and being thankful for all that God has given you.
So even if you don’t have a Valentine this year, I encourage you to still sparkle! And maybe even treat yourself to that Dr. Seuss book. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
