Dress: Lulus (Nordstrom) Under $75 // Jacket: Similar, Similar // Heels: Sarah Flint // Bag: Neely & Chloe
Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that you either love or hate. I even know people who absolutely cannot stand it. I think that people get frustrated because of the expectations that come with having a romantic relationship. With heartbreaks, disappointments, lack luster relationships, and even death, I can only imagine how hard this holiday can be for some. But what I have always said on this blog in regards to this celebration is to use it to cherish your loved ones whether it is your children, girlfriends, or your signifiant other.
It also doesn’t have to be celebrated in the traditional sense of going out to a nice dinner. Trust me, from experience, Valentine’s Day dinners on the day of are usually nothing to write home about. The past few years, my husband and I have cooked our own romantic meal at home but the trick is that you still have to dress the part!
Whether you are just doing brunch with the girls, a fun night out, or a day at home, you can still dress up and make it special. Don’t want to spend money on a dress just for one occasion? I totally get it. And I don’t like spending money on a dress I will only wear once either. But the good news with “Valentine’s Day” dresses is that their color scheme usually works for a number of festivities in the future. For example, a little red dress can be worn again for Christmas. A little white dress can be worn again for a bridal event if you are getting married soon. A pink dress is lovely for bridal and baby showers.
Pick a color and style that you KNOW you will wear again, but will still make you happy in the moment. If you are looking for something timeless and classic, a slip dress is a great option. This ultimate “sexy” dress is sure to make your honey very happy. But I will be honest, it can be difficult to pull off if you are bottom heavy. The fabric does tend to accentuate your curves, so if you don’t have any, that is perfect! But for pear shapes, this could be unflattering. What you can do is pair it with a fur coat so it takes some attend away from your bottom half. Our men usually love it when we show off our curves, but I know we can tend to be a little more conscious of it. But keep scrolling for my other Valentine’s Day dress picks!
