Spring Break, Summer sunshine, beach getaways are all on the horizon. Packing for fun little getaways can be more stressful than the travel itself. What if it is chilly at night? Or there could be unexpected dinners, rainstorms, and other instances that could leave you feelings stumped when staring into your suitcase while you are supposed to be relaxing on vacay!
Yes of course you will want to bring the typical items such as sandals, bathing suits, and maxi dresses. But today I wanted to share a few items that you might have overlooked when packing for your next beach vacation. I am currently in Clearwater, Florida and I packed a few of these items to get me through a week of relaxing activities such as shopping, boating, restaurant going, and swimming. I also wished I had brought a few other items that I plan on picking up while I am here. So hopefully you can learn from my mistakes and be fully prepared for your next trip.
1. A Boater Hat
A floppy hat like I have on in these photos are super fabulous to have while sipping margaritas by the pool; however, traveling with them can get super tricky. A boater hat can give a similar feel without adding that extra bulk to your suitcase. Flip it upside down and pack it with socks and other small items to maximize space in your travel bag.
2. A Brightly Colored Small Bag
The key detail to remember in this one is small. You might be tempted to bring a large tote for your beach towel and other essentials, but you will be surprised how annoyed you will be not to have a smaller catch all bag to take with you to dinner and other activities. Lugging around a large bag is the last thing you need added to your plate while you are trying to relax.
3. An Orange Toned Lipstick
This is definitely the time of year to skip the nudes! Tanned skin and brightly colored lips are so fun! But don’t be intimated by the term orange. Peachy pinks can fall into this category as well if you are nervous to take the plunge into vibrant lip colors. One of my favorites for these months is EsteĆ© Lauder Impassioned, which is a bright orange toned red.
4. White Colored Bottoms
With all the shades of the rainbow stuffed in your suitcase, you will definitely need something to balance it out. White jeans are the perfect item to have on hand for dinners and other events where you want to look dressier, but still be comfortable. You can also bring a pair of white denim shorts or a skirt as well.
5. A Little White Dress
I mean is it even a tropical vacation without a LWD? This lace dress I am wearing is perfect for chilly evenings on the beach with the long sleeve detailing. I will say that this particular dress runs big. The fabric was a little overwhelming on my small frame, so pick a style that fits your body type the best!
