New Years Blue Smokey Eye

December 30, 2014

NYE!!If ever there was a time to go ALL OUT with your makeup… it is New Years Eve! Maybe it is just me, but when I think of this Holiday, I picture glitter. And a lot of it! With every new year comes a new beginning, second chances, and of course a fresh start at life .Why not begin this new year with a bang. I am talking sparkles, glitter, and OVER THE TOP! So let’s begin with this night out blue smokey eye look.

unnamed-4Eyes:

You may have noticed that in a lot of these tutorials, I choose to do my eyes first. The reason I do this is because when I use very pigmented or glittery shadows, it has a tendency to fall on my face. In order to keep my foundation application flawless, I like to do my eyes first so that I can wipe away any eye shadow fall out. In this look especially, you will have some silver glitter fall on your face. I suggest doing your face makeup after this step.

* Place tape starting at your lower lash line to your brow bone.

* Take a matte blue shadow ( I chose Morphe #35) with a fluffy blending brush and move it in wind shield wiper motions in the crease of the eye.

* Take a deeper color of blue with a little shimmer (Makeup Geek Nautica Eye Shadow) and then (Vice 3 Palette- Freeze) and do the same thing.

* Now take a very dark blue color (Vice 3 palette-Heroine) and place that all over your eye lid from inner to outer corner.

* On the outer portion of your eye lid, take either a dark blue or black shadow (Vice 3 Palette-Revolver) and (Makeup Geek Corrupt) and create a v shape. What we are doing in this step is creating dimension to the eye.

*Now take a cream shadow or glitter glue (I used Mac Painterly Paint Pot) and dab that on the center of the eyelid.

*Next take a sliver glitter and place a little on your fingers and transfer it to your eyelid on top of the cream shadow or glitter glue.

*Take either a gel or liquid liner and draw a dramatic wing. Note: You can keep the tape on for this step if you are new to winged liner.

* Apply mascara or falsies.

*Under your eyes on the lower lash line, take the color Heroine from your Vice 3 Palette (or a dark blue color) and smudge that under your eyes.

*Line your waterline with a black eye liner.

*Throw a little mascara on your lower lash line.

NYE!Face:

At this point you may have made a complete mess! But that is okay! I took some coconut oil on a cotton pad and wiped off the excess shadow and glitter.

* Once your face is cleaned of the eye shadow fall out, you can continue to your primer.

* Once my face was prepped for foundation, I took my usual F80 kabuki brush and stippled my new Glo Minerals Makeup Luxe Foundation all over my face and then buffed it into my skin. The key to making your makeup look natural is to really blend.

*I then took my beloved Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in the shade NW20 and placed that under my eye area. I began by creating an upside down triangle under my eye and then I tap my under eye with my finger. To finish, take a brush to blend it out.

* With a small eye shadow brush, I first drew a line from the tip of my ear to the corner of my mouth with my bronzer by Nars. Then I like to blend it out with an angled blush brush using circular motions.

*For my blush, I applied a peachy pink color by Nars called Deep Throat.

* I used Becca Highlighter in the shade Opal on my cheek bones and bridge of my nose.

Lips:

* When I apply lip liner, I slightly over draw my upper lip. What I mean by that is that I draw by upper lip outside its natural lines. I like my bottom and top lip to be about the same size.

*I used NYX lip Liner in Peekaboo Neutral for this step.

* I applied Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in Butter Cup (a pink/ nude lipstick) over top of the lip liner.

* To complete the lips, I applied Gerard Cosmetics lip gloss in Butter Cream, which is a light nude color.
