I must admit that I am not much of a drugstore foundation junkie. I have always gravitated toward higher-end foundation; however, if a product is really hyped about in the beauty community, I am often tempted to give it a go! During a weak moment in the beauty aisle of Target (*anyone else get weak in the knees in the makeup aisle?) I decided to pick up the L’Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation and give it a try!
Foundation Claims:
*24 Hour Wear
*Oil-Free
*Medium to Full Coverage
*Demi-Matte Finish
I purchased the shade 104 Golden Beige and was impressed that it was my perfect match!
The first time I applied it I used my Flat Top Kabuki Brush by Sigma. But I would definitely recommend using a Beauty Blender to blend it more easily. I did this the second application and liked it even more!
I definitely was very impressed with its ability to cover my redness and acne marks. It definitely was a full coverage foundation for me. I also loved how it had a yellow undertone to it because one of my biggest issues with drugstore foundations is the pink undertone that accompanies many drugstore options.
Right away, I was surprised how non-drying it was for a matte foundation. It did not make my face feel tight like it could not move or breath.
I also was impressed by how long it lasted on the skin. It does not live up to its “24 hour” claim, but it did last a good 10-12 hours on me.
Cons:
I did feel that it emphasized my pores more than many other foundations I have tried. I even applied the NYX Angel Veil Primer prior to application. I would recommend trying it again with Benefit Porefessional or NYX Pore Filler.
I also noticed that throughout the day it started to cling to drier patches on my face (such as under my nose).
It definitely does not last 24 hours. This really isn’t a big issue for me since no one should be wearing foundation for 24 hours in my opinion! Let your skin breath ladies!
Verdict:
Overall, I was pretty impressed with this foundation. Considering it is a drugstore product with a pretty good price, it gives great coverage and is pretty long wearing for you oily/combination skin girls. I would definitely stay far away from this if you have dry skin. Does it replace my beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear? No, I am pretty addicted to that product, but I do think it is a great option at the drugstore!
What are some of your favorite drugstore foundation?! I would love to read your recommendations!
