Okay Brides!

The spotlight is on you! If you have recently gotten engaged, have an upcoming bridal event, or just love obsessing of the day you finally do find price charming and get to wear that beautiful white dress (or dresses in this case!) than this post is for you!

During the course of our engagement, I can’t tell you how many hours I spent on Pinterest searching and searching for inspiration for my bridal outfits. It seemed like as soon as I knew what I was wearing to one event, another would be around the corner. I would ask myself questions like, “how sexy is too sexy for my bachelorette?” “Is this dress too fancy for a bridal shower?” “Do I even have to wear white for the rehearsal dinner?” “HOW MANY FREAKING DRESSES DO I NEED BEFORE THIS WEDDING!”

After hours of “pinning,” days of shopping, and months of planning, I figured I would share with you some of the tips I picked up for choosing your bridal event dresses.

I decided early on that I wanted to wear white for every bridal event including Bridal Showers, Bachelorette/ Lingerie Party, Rehearsal dinner, etc. I wanted to soak in every minute of being the bride, and for me, that meant wearing white. When I finally sat down to think about how these dresses could quickly add up in dollar signs, I knew I needed to decide on which party dresses I would splurge on, and which I would choose a more affordable option.

The bachelorette party dress was one of the dresses I decided to splurge on. Afterall, you are announcing to the world that you are only going to be single for a little while longer. Might as well go out with a bang right?! In my opinion, this is your chance to really get all dolled up and wear something sexy. Put those capped sleeve dresses to the side and show some skin! Bring on the sparkles, glitter, ruffles, net, and sequins! There really are no rules for bachelorette dresses. I wanted to be sexy but still a little more on the conservative side, being that I was about to be a wife in a couple days!

For the bridal showers, I chose to opt for some less expensive dresses. Bridal showers are usually more casual events, where lots of friends and family come to show their love, support, and excitement for bride. This is not your time to bring out the cleavage and strut your stuff! A bride should be a good hostess and welcome her guests with a kind of elegance and poise. That being said, you should wear something that makes you feel pretty and special, but do not feel the need to buy a blow out dress for your bridal shower.

The event that I decided to go all out for and purchase something really nice was the rehearsal dinner dress. It’s the day before the wedding and you are feeling your best. You should be excited (and a little nervous) for the big day. This is the time for you to really get in the bride mood and feel beautiful. I wanted to feel elegant the day before the wedding. So I chose a gorgeous dress by BCBG Max azria. I wanted to add a little sparkle to the dress, so I added a beaded belt and shoes to complete the look.

For all your special bridal events, chose something that makes you feel special. But remember, there are times to splurge and times to save. I mean remember, there are a whole lot other things to pay for besides your little white dress 😉
