The pumpkin spice latte seems to have a cult following of its own. Ordering the drink during the month of September has become the unofficial initiation of the fall season. Even if the sun is still beating strong enough to cause a sweat, the die hard fall lovers commit to ordering a hot pumpkin spice latte simply to bring on the “fall vibes.” I must admit that I am classified in this category of people who just can’t seem to get enough of the pumpkin crazed season.

But let’s be honest, it is no secret that a classic pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks is pretty hefty in the calorie department. After investing in the Nespresso Machine a few years ago, we have been making our own lattes at home. Last year, I played around with a few different recipes of a healthier version of the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and ended up settling on this one! Although it uses maple syrup, which is still considered a sweetener, it a much better alternative then what is offered at Starbucks!

Here is the recipe for the healthy version of the PSL!

Play Around with Your Proportions

The two ingredients that I would suggest playing around with are the pumpkin puree and maple syrup. I personally like about 2 TBSP of the pumpkin puree. But if you are a die hard pumpkin lover, you may prefer to add an extra TBSP. Also depending on how sweet you like your lattes, I would start with 1TBSP of maple syrup and add more if needed. If I am going through the effort to make this type of special latte, I usually go for two TBSP of maple syrup to really get the delicious flavors to come together.
