Hair Care Routine |How to Get Healthy Hair|

How to Get Healthy Hair
Believe it or not, I am actually pretty low maintenance when it comes to doing my hair. You are probably rolling your eyes at this very moment, but seriously, I have always cared more about having my “face” put on rather than taking the time to do my hair.

Growing up my mom was not much of a product hoarder. So I never felt the urge to have a million different styling products and tools to achieve the look I wanted. I learned that sometimes all you really need is one or two products that really work to get healthy, beautiful hair.

My biggest hair expense is definitely getting it colored every couple months. So in that respect, I guess you can call me “high maintainance.” But in terms of daily routine, I actually keep it quite simple!

By the way, my hair looks a little warmer in these pictures than it is in real life because of the lighting in my bedroom!

Healthy Hair Routine

Step 1: Shampoo and Condition

I wash my hair about every other day. I would probably wash it even less if I didn’t work out. But there is just something about sweaty workout hair that I just CAN’T deal with! In terms of products, I have been using the Davines Minu Line. It is excellent for color treated hair. It protects as well as keeps your hair shiny for a longer period of time. It is also free of sulfates, which dry your hair out. So ditch the sulfates in all your hair and skin care products!

Step 2: Heat Protect and Style

I am an all-in-one kind of product for this step. I hate having a million different styling products. I have fine hair, but a lot of it. So putting a ton of products in my hair actually just weighs it down and makes it flat. I have been loving the Davines Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion. A fun fact that I recently learned from my hair stylist is that the amber color from a lot of other oil products, such as Moroccan Oil, can actually stain your hair and give it that brassy color! This product is clear so it will not turn your hair brassy and it also tames frizz, prevents breakage, adds shine, softens, and detangles the hair. Talk about all in one!

Step 3: Brush and Blow Dry

The brush that I swear by is the Tangle Teaser. It makes brushing through my fine, tangling hair so easy! I also have the Wet Brush and that is also a great paddle brush that makes combing through after shower hair a dream. Both of these brushes are more gentle on your hair and will cause less breakage. As for drying my hair, I try to let my hair air dry most days, and then run a blow dryer through it when it is almost completely dry.

Once a Week Products

1.Purple Shampoo

If you are a blonde, you NEED to invest in a purple shampoo. I have been using eSalon Tinted Love Blonde Neutralizer. This will help get rid of any brassy tones in your hair. It will also help you maintain your blonde color longer.

2. Deep Conditioner/ Hair Mask

To keep your hair moisturized and healthy, you also should be doing a hair mask once a week. If you want to save a buck, I HIGHLY recommend using coconut oil as a weekly mask. You can even sleep in it and wash it out the next day. But I have also been loving the eSalon Deeply Invested Hair MaskAlso eSalon gives you 3 products for just $15 on your first order!

3. Hair Styling Days Off

On the days when I don’t shower, I will use a dry shampoo. I have tried a few different brands, but the one I continue to repurchase is the Batiste Dry Shampoo. It does such a great job at disguising slightly dirty hair and gives you that extra volume when your hair just wants to lay flat! In a pinch, I have also used baby powder to get the oily look out of my hair. That is also more cost effective!

What are a few of your “go to” hair products that keep your hair healthy and beautiful?!
