Golden Goddess Makeup Look

November 3, 2014

gold2I know I know! Halloween is OVER! But I just couldn’t resist showing you my Halloween night out makeup look! My husband and I had the pleasure of going to a live band at a bar/restaurant and dancing the night away. I was inspired by a youtube video to be a Golden Goddess for our night out. I didn’t want to spend more money on a costume, so I put together this outfit with items I already had around the house! The only thing I did purchase was the jewelry, which is from Plato’s Closet. The great thing about this look is that you really could wear this look outside of Halloween. All you have to cut out the costume, glitter, and not extend your liner as far on your inner corner!

gold3Step One: I like to start with my eyes when I know I am going to be using intense colors that will probably end up falling on my face. First, as always, prime your eyelids with either a primer or concealer. Then take a light brown color (Naked and then Sable) and work that into your crease. I often do this step 2-3 times using different shades of browns to create a lot of dimension. Then on my lid, I placed a gold shadow. I started with the Lorac Pro shade in gold and then I ended up layering the shade half baked by Urban Decay on top of that. Then I took a dark brown shade and put that on my outer corner and worked it into my crease. With your liner, you want to create a very dramatic winged liner. Once you have your wing, you can extend the liner from the inner corner of your eye and create a pointed shape. This elongates your eye and creates a ‘cat eye’ effect. I then connected that line on the lower lash line as well. After liner, I took some more gold eye shadow and placed that right under the lower lash liner. Finish the eyes with false eye lashes or mascara.

gold1Step Two: The key element in this step is to give your face a golden glow. I applied my foundation and concealer and then went onto bronzer. I really bronzed up my skin because in my eyes, Goddess are very tan! Then you can take a very shimmery blush (Margin by MAC) and put that on the apples of your checks and along your cheek bones. From there, you want to apply A LOT of highlighter! I chose a very gold based highlighter by NARS called Albatross. I put that on my cheek bones, forehead, nose, and chin. Then I took that gold eye shadow and put that on my cheek bones and bridge of my nose.

gold4Step Three: Apply a nude lipstick with a golden sheen to it (MAC Shy Girl) and then with your finger, tap some gold eye shadow in the center of your lips. It looks so pretty when it catches the light! For the glitter application, I used hairspray! It acts just like glue for the little specks to hold onto. I learned this trick from Carli Bybel. I would spray some hairspray onto my hand and then apply it to the parts of my face that I wanted the glitter to be. Then I dumped some glitter into my hand and placed it onto the hairspray that I just put onto my face. I also placed some glitter on my neck as well. That’s it! But this look really would be beautiful as well for a non Halloween night. The element that makes this look “costume” like is really the liner and glitter. So if you take those two things away, you could have gorgeous evening makeup look!

DSC_1801BLOG SCHEDULE NOTE:

I just want to apologize for my schedule being a little out of the regular order as of late. I wanted to get in a few Halloween makeup looks before the 31st, so that is why I changed the schedule a little the last week or so.

I normally post a beauty product/ review post on Monday, lifestyle post Wednesday, and makeup look Friday. After this week, the schedule should be back to normal. But I will always post three times a week no matter what!

Please comment below on any requests you have or follow me on Instagram to make suggestions and comments there! @glamglitterandgloss

Happy November!
