I have always felt like the upcoming month of August is a difficult month to shop in. Mainly because back to school seems to be the primary focus of everyone’s shopping agenda. Boots and other iconic fall pieces are all you will start to see in the department stores as summer dresses and cute cami tops will be pushed out way before the summer is over. Unfortunately it puts you into a dilemma. The weather is telling you to keep buying those bright floral items, but the reality is that fall is closer than you realize.

The solution is to buy smarter. You can actually take advantage of clearance sales and begin building your fall wardrobe without the price tag. The following items are pieces you can buy now, wear now, and wear later as the weather starts to cool. I recently did a YouTube video that you can watch at the end of this post if you prefer to watch content as opposed to reading it!

Learn how to easily transition your summer wardrobe to fall with these easy style tips. I am featuring this beautiful green floral dress on Glam Life Living today! Curious about how you can begin to transition your wardrobe to incorporate more fall appropriate clothing items? I am sharing my top tips on how to get your current summer wardrobe ready for the fall season!

1. Dark Color Florals and Prints

It’s no secret that florals are a summer staple, but carry this traditional summer style by switching your color scheme. Burgundies, forest greens, and navy colors will speak more toward a fall closet but still allow you you to get some wear out of them now.

Wearing dark colored floral fabrics is an excellent way to start transitioning your current summer wardrobe to a more fall appropriate closet!

2. Layer Friendly Dresses

A lot of the dresses you sported all summer long can still be wore in the fall if they fall under the layer friendly category. Can you throw on a denim, suede, or leather jacket over it? If the answer is yes, then you got yourself a great layer friendly item! Keep that possibility in mind as you are shopping the next couple of months.

It is not too early to start prepping your wardrobe for fall. Dark floral fabrics are perfect for layering for the upcoming fall season.

3. New Denim

Back to school season usually means massive deals on denim. So now is the time to stock up on your favorite styles and cuts. I picked up a flare crop jeans and a button ankle skinny jean!

4. A Black and Gold Belt

I recently invested in a Gucci belt for my birthday and I have been shocked at how much use I have gotten out of it. Obviously, a designer belt is not necessary. But I do recommend getting a thick belt with gold hardware to elevate your look.

5. Animal Print

Leopard print is going to be a huge trend for fall 2018. But the great news with this trend is that it tends to jump in and out of style frequently. My favorite way of wearing it is in my shoes. I love a great animal print pump!
