I honestly cannot even believe Thanksgiving is next week! This year my little family and I will be staying in Dallas and I will be cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner. Ekk! Last year my girlfriend and I cooked together for a Friendgiving, but let’s just say she lead that endeavor and I followed in her footsteps! Considering it will be the first Holiday that I have hosted myself (even if it is just for my little family it totally counts!), I want it to be extra special. I will definitely be playing it a little safe in terms of classic recipes and limited dishes. But I am so excited to make it my own.
You know you are a fashion girl when before you even think about what dishes you are cooking, you think about what you will wear and how you will decorate! I have always enjoyed setting the ambiance for occasions. My mother always had me set the table for every Holiday and it is a tradition that I continued to love throughout my adult life. But I do believe that setting the scene can really enhance the memory of the day. Every Thanksgiving, my sisters and I would get all dressed up and do our make up for the dinner, even if we had no other plans for the rest of the day.
Dressing up for Thanksgiving may seem like a totally foreign idea to you. I actually have a friend who wears sweatpants to Thanksgiving dinner. While I totally give no judgement, I just prefer to make the day feel extra special and that starts with what I wear. What I love about this little velvet dress is that first off, the price point is great. For under $60, you can’t beat the elegant comfort. And also it is a wrap style, which makes it totally practical for adjusting the waist to accommodate your full Thanksgiving belly! Is that not totally awesome?! So really it is as good as wearing sweatpants only much more chic!
