What I’m Wearing
Top: Reformation // Skirt: Madewell // Bag: Topshop // Heels: Zara, Similar // Watch: MVMT
After years of living in warm climates such as LasVegas, Dallas, and now Tampa, I am officially a pro at pretending there is a change of seasons. The calendar may say it is the official mark of the changing weather but many of us know that it can be weeks or even MONTHS before we actually see a change in temperature. But with fall fashion all around us (especially during last week with Fashion Week in New York City), many of us are getting that itch to change our wardrobe!
Although you may be dying to get into those boots and cute sweaters, you will probably sweat yourself into heat exhaustion! I have discovered a few tips and tricks that make my wardrobe feel a little more fall oriented without the heavy layers.
1. Wear Warmer and Darker Colors
This may seem a little obvious, but it really is the easier way to feel a change in your wardrobe. Pull out all of your blacks, burgundies, and other warmer hues and place them front and center in your closet. Put away the spring and summer palettes and maybe consider moving them to a different closet or in storage. This can help you see what you have more clearly.
2. Embrace the Skirt Life
Jeans are an obvious choice during this time of year, but skirts are also a fantastic option. With materials like suede, leather, and denim you can add a fall feel to your look while maintaining a comfort level that allows for more airflow with the still pounding heat. I love mini skirts during this time of year, especially paired with knee high boots (once the weather allows).
3. Change Up Your Handbag
It’s time to say goodbye to the basket bags and woven totes. Replace your favorite summer fabrics with a leather style. Croc bags are SUPER on trend right now. This one by Topshop is under $50 and a great bag to take you into the new season.
Is it still really hot where you live? Have you started your fall shopping or are you holding out for the change in weather?
Thanks so much for reading today’s post.
