What I’m Wearing
Merry Christmas Eve! I sit quietly in the house in front of my Christmas tree as my little one and husband are out doing some last minute shopping. I have a balsam & firewood candle burning, christmas music playing softly in the background, and I am currently sipping my espresso out of my winking Santa mug. Sometimes it is in these peaceful moments that we really start to remember what the season is all about. The chaos is almost over, and we will enjoy the true beauty that is Christmas.
As we are spending our first Christmas in our home, it is exciting to think about the traditions we will start. Something that my husband and I did last year was talk about those little memories we will make each Christmas and Christmas Eve. Growing up, my mother always made chili for Christmas Eve dinner. She got this idea from my father’s mother who did the same. As we got a little older, she eventually transitioned this tradition to become a chunky chicken noodle soup. This chunky chicken noodle soup has actually become pretty famous in my family (it actually has a YouTube video of over 85,000 hits!) And my husband loved it so much he was anxious to bring it as a part of our Christmas Eve traditions.
These little memories and traditions that we reincarnate each year is what makes this seasons so magical. Gathering together to watch that special holiday movie that you save till last, baking something delicious, or playing a game as a family is what makes the season bright. But our clothing can actually give us that feeling of nostalgia as well. Many of us save clothing for years and years because of a special event or memory attached to it.
This year wouldn’t it be so special to make what you wear each Christmas Eve a tradition in itself? Whether it is a color, texture, print, or you get the whole family involved, it is just another memory that you can install to make each year more enchanting. Whether it is timeless and classic like a black dress and bold red lip, or fun and festive, celebrate you!
What are some of your favorite traditions that you do on Christmas Eve? I hope you soak up all the lovely memories this beautiful day!
Thanks for reading. Merry Christmas!
