Candyland Cartoon Halloween Makeup

October 29, 2014

blog1Only two more days till Halloween! That means crunch time for finding costume and makeup ideas for your Halloween look! Today I have a rather strange makeup look for you guys. Inspired by this Candyland board costume, I wanted to be a cartoon character with and edgy twist. You can also use this makeup look for a pop art look (just add white dots all over your face and neck) or your cartoon character of choice!

blog2Get this look:

Step one: Start with your face. Apply primer on your face and eyes. Then apply foundation and concealer. You want to start with a fully prepped base. Once your skin looks as flawless as possible, you can go on to applying bronzer. I applied it to by temples, a little on the forehead, hollows of my cheeks, and neck. Now you want to apply a bright pink blush to the apples of your cheeks and along your cheekbone. You can be heavy handed with the blush since you are supposed to look cartoon like.

blog 3Step two: Hold a tissue under you eyes so that any eye shadow that falls will not ruin your concealer. Then take a small shader brush and begin to shape a large semi circle on your eyelid. I chose a blue color, but you can pick whatever color you like. Once you have the amount of color on your lids that you like, outline your shape with a liquid eyeliner. If you are worried about it not being perfect, then trace it out with a pencil eye liner first. Now you are going to create a winged eyeliner to connect to your semi circle. Now apply mascara or false lashes if you wish (mine are falling off!).

blog5Step three: All you need for this step is liquid eye liner. I started with my eyebrows and began to draw an outline of the shape I wanted. I wanted them to be strange and animated. I then just filled in the lines with the same liquid liner. After the brows, I completed my eyes. You want to draw longer bottom lashes near the corner of your eye. This creates the illusion of a more animated eye. I only drew two extra lashes per eye, but feel free to draw more! Then continue to line your lower lash line. Once the eyes are complete, draw a line down the center of your nose and bring it down around the curve of your nose. Draw another curved line shaping your nostrils. For the rest of your face, you can draw a slightly curved line along your cheeks to outline their shape, above your chin, by your eyebrows, etc. I got distracted by a phone call and forgot to draw a few extra lines! If you are wanting a more “pop art” type look, you should also outline your face with a black liner as well before applying white dots all over your face and neck.

Step 4: Apply your chosen lipstick shade to your lips as normal. Then outline them with a black pencil eye liner. Once you have a rough shape outlined, you can make the line darker with a liquid liner. Then take the liquid liner and rub it in the center of your lips. Then draw a few lines from that blackened center. Last, take white eye liner (I used white out because I was desperate) and make a few dashes on your lips, This creates a glossy lip effect.

Then you are done!
