What I’m Wearing
Blouse: Endless Rose (Nordstrom) // Jeans: J. Crew // Bag: Vintage // Heels: Similar
Finding that perfect pair of jeans is like searching for a piece of jewelry in the sand. At times it seems near impossible, but then once you find a style that you love, you want to buy them in every color and style option! There is a reason we feel a pressure to find that perfect fit. Most of us live in them. I will admit that I was not much a jean lover until this year. I have gradually started to branch outside of my comfort zone of dresses and venture into the massive world of denim.
I think a big reason that I never liked denim is because I always felt frumpy in them. My height is just under 5’3, so I always had issues with them being the right length. And I have always had issues with my denim being to big in the waist but fitting me in the butt and leg area. Little did I realize that I just needed to understand my body shape to figure out what jean style would look the most flattering on my body type.
We all come in different shapes and sizes. And that is the beauty of the feminine body. Our bodies do a lot of us. And we should be grateful for what they endure for us on a daily basis. Rather than wishing we had a different figure or shape, we should learn how to dress in a way that does our body justice in the most flattering way. The reality is that each and every one of us can feel amazing in a pair of jeans. We just have to learn our body shape and how to choose a pair that accentuates it.
Although most bodies do not fall perfectly in one little category, looking at different body shape charts can be a great way to get a rough understanding of what category you fall under. Here is a brief explanation of each body shape.
Pear Shape
Usually have a smaller bust and shoulder area and carry most of their weight in the hips, butt, and legs.
Rectangle Shape
This is known as a straight silhouette. Your chest, waist, and hips are stacked in a straight line with similar dimensions.
Apple Shape
This body shape has proportionally more of their weight carried in the stomach and chest area. Legs and hips are often more slim then the top of their body.
Inverted Triangle
The shoulders are the broadest point of the body with the waist and hips being mainly the same width.
Hourglass
This body type has a defined waist with their shoulders and hips being proportionally the same width.
Petite
Considered to be 5’3 and under but will also take on one of the the other body shape categories.
