What I’m Wearing
Dress: Finders Keepers, Similar // Wedges: Soludos // Bag: Vintage | Similar, Similar
In the world of fashion, it can be nice to have a few statement pieces that are one of a kind. Although the convenience of online shopping has changed the way we buy our clothing, there is something special about finding a vintage item tucked away in a small, locally owned store. As a blogger, most of my clothing and accessories are pieces that you can easily get your hands on. That is my job and I love being able to make fashion easier for my friends here on the Internet. But I have recently enjoyed discovering a few special vintage pieces that I can add to my outfit that are unique and something you can’t find at your favorite department store.
So today, I wanted to share my thoughts on what items that you can add to your wardrobe that are previously loved and not mass produced. I personally do not have much experience buying vintage clothing. But I have begun a new journey of finding vintage accessories! I have rounded up a few accessory categories that I think are great introductory fields to beginning your vintage collection!
Silk Scarves
Scarves are not limited to the traditional notion of just tying it around your neck. Although this can be an adorable statement, you can add a scarf to other aspects of your outfit to incorporate a personal and stylish flare. Try tying it around the handle of your handbag, use it has a hairpiece, or even loop it through the belt loops of your pants. A real iconic scarf would be one by Hermès if you can swing it!
Earrings
Your Grandma’s large and gaudy earrings are just the thing you want to stock up on. If you can get your hands on her old jewelry box, even better! Gold hoops, large pearls, or statement gems will have you looking vintage chic immediately!
Bags
It’s no secret that vintage bags can be a high ticket item that is heavily sought after. Especially if they were a limited edition item that was produced by a designer like Chanel back in the day. But vintage bags don’t need to cost you a whole month’s salary. Simple basket bags are usually pretty cheap and add a charming touch to your outfit. Having a one of of a kind bag can be that perfect final touch to your outfit.
Sunglasses
Vintage style sunnies have been a huge trend the past few seasons. And a classic cat eye is still one of the most iconic shapes. Instead of picking up a style or shape that is mass produced by your favorite department store, find a one of a kind pair that has a true vintage feel.
Hats
My personal favorite hat style to buy used is a straw hat with a ribbon tied around it. But you can also go for a number of different styles. If you attend annual events like the Kentucky Derby, this can be a fun way to add a vintage twist to your outfit as well.
Have you ever shopped vintage? If you have, I would love to hear your input and advice! I have just begun the journey and I am loving adding these of of a kind gems to my look!
Thanks so much for reading!
