We’re Moving!

We're Moving Announcement, blogger family, cute family, family photos

We are off to our next adventure. We’re moving! Las Vegas has been our home for two and a half years now. The city of lights and excitement was such a wonderful experience and we loved living here for this time period, but we always knew it would not be a place we would settle down. I am so grateful for this crazy chapter of our story, but I am also ready to move onto the next one.

So where is the wind taking us this time? My little family is completely uprooting our lives and starting over in Dallas, Texas! We are actually super excited for this transition and can’t wait to start our journey near the end of this month. We will both be starting new jobs and exploring our new little home.

If any of you are from the area or have spent a lot of time there, we would love to read your recommendations and suggestions! Make sure you are following me on Instagram to follow our moving process. I really need to pack more because we move in a little over 3 weeks! Yikes!

Hi Hannah,

My name is Emily. I am currently living north of Syracuse, and I am a friend of your parents. Your mom mentioned you were moving to the great state of Texas (my home) and I grew up and lived in a suburb of the DFW area for 20 yrs. All of my family still lives in either Lewisville, Euless, or the Uptown Dallas area off of Henderson, and I am sure they can be excellent resources for you and your family if you need someone as you are settling in. There are some wonderful young adult Catholic groups popping up all over the area. Of note are Young Catholic Professionals (both a Dallas and Fort Worth Chapter), Theology of the Body Evangelization Team (TOBET) based out of Irving, and the Catholic Beer Club. I was most heavily involved in TOBET and met some of my closest friends through that group. St. Ann’s in Coppell is a wonderful Catholic parish with a very lively family and young adult scene however it is a bit far from the uptown Dallas area (not sure where in Dallas you are heading to but beware, the traffic is real). St. Thomas Moore is a beautiful parish near the Uptown and has a growing young adult group. St. Rita’s off Inwood Rd in Dallas is also another good family-centric parish with a good school attached to it. If you want to change things up a bit though, the Cistercian Monastery in Irving right across the street from University of Dallas is a wonderful gem. I went there every Sunday and it felt like a mini-retreat every time I would go. The monks run a boys prep school and I befriended a few of the monks who were wonderful spiritual directors. They also work very closely with the University. Outside of Catholicism, there are some wonderful family friendly areas in Dallas. Klyde Warren Park hosts a large park on top of a major highway, and it links the arts district with Uptown neighborhoods. The State Fair is every September/October that is hosted at Fair Park, east of Downtown Dallas. White Rock Lake is a great outdoors spot near the Dallas Arboretum, also east of Downtown. If you head to the Fort Worth side, there’s a ton of other stuff too but I don’t want to overwhelm you!! I love Dallas/Texas in general and I think you and your family will really like this new chapter! Please let me know if I can help out with any contacts as you guys get settled. Your parents have my phone number if you would like to get in touch that way. Prayers are headed your way and God Bless!!

Emily,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write on this response. I am sorry for the delay in writing back. I really appreciate the recommendations. We have been going to Saint Thomas More since it is so close. I will definitely try out some of the other parishes as well. I have also gotten to walk on Katy Trail, which was nice but so hot! Thanks again for thinking of me and I will reach out for some more suggestions later on! Thank you!

Hello Hannah,
This is Jenni Angrisano. Steve Angrisano’s wife. I bet we’ve met, but maybe not. I know that you’ve met some of my kids. I have no doubt that Dallas will be welcoming and wonderful for your family! Please know that you can reach out to us for ANYTHING!!! We grew up in the Dallas area (Richardson/Plano) and we moved back from Denver 7 years ago to the Coppell area. In my 20’s, I lived off “Lovers Lane”:) Your Dad said you were going to the North Dallas side of things near SMU. So, I know the area you are moving to. There is a HUGE young adult/family community connected with St.Ann’s in Coppell. I do know that St Thomas Moore is awesome out your way. Anyway…Just know that there is friends that LOVE your family near by and would do anything for you! We’ve moved 8 times in our marriage. All of them with a different set of joys and sorrows. The best advice I ever received about the first year of a move with kids was, “Find your coffee maker, and clean sheets for your bed. Don’t try to find “homes” for everything at once. Take your time…it will take a year to feel home.” Love each other and figure this town out together! We’ll be praying for you!

Jenni,

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I am really excited for the new adventure but now that it will be an adjustment. Is Saint Ann the parish you go to? We will have to try it out next Sunday. Thanks again!
