One Spring trend that has sprinted out of the gates of NYFW and made itself known is the polka dot print. I mentioned in my 2018 Spring Fashion Trends post that I wasn’t sure if I was ready to jump aboard the polka dot express. It gave me horrific memories of embarrassing fashion “no nos” from my middle school days. But I have decided to put the past behind me with this black polka dot dress.
There is more to style than trying out every single trend that comes out each season. It can be overwhelming to keep up with every fit, fabric, and style that bombards retail stores claiming to be the “it” item to wear for the season. Knowledge of self means to skip the pieces you know won’t flatter you, but also step outside of your comfort zone when necessary. Even as a fashion blogger, I will find myself saying, “ew I won’t wear that.” Or “that’s not my style.” But sometimes we have to just do the thing and get over ourselves!
How can we grow in life or in fashion if we are not willing to step outside that bubble of comfort. The worst thing that can happen is we find that it doesn’t suit us, and move on. So many of us, including myself, are afraid of mistakes. But if we started taking ourselves a little less seriously, I bet we would have a lot more fun in our everyday lives and wardrobe purchases.
