Let’s get real. This girl has too much makeup! But really is there such thing? It’s like my makeup products are this one big happy family and they just love adding new members to their group! But no matter how big or small your makeup collection is things can get messy very quickly. You know the drill. Foundation smeared all over your bathroom countertop. And not to mention you just haven’t been able to find your favorite shade of red anywhere!
“If you can’t see it, you won’t use it!” When you are a makeup hoarder like me, it can be tough to organize the mass amounts of unnecessary makeup products. Even if you you have a smaller collection of makeup, it can still be difficult to display it in an appealling way. Makeup can get dirty and grimy looking fast! So today I wanted to reveal some of my favorite ways to store and organize my makeup!
1. Use acrylic containers
Acrylic containers can be found in a lot of different stores such as TJ Maxx, Homegoods, Target, etc. My tip with purchasing these is its better to purchase higher quality. I love my Original Beauty Box because it houses a lot of products and is very easy to clean. Its also very durable. Its one of the more affordable brands of large acrylic boxes. Other cheaper alternatives can get gross looking fast. I do have a few cheaper organizers and you can definitely tell I didn’t pay a lot for them!
2. Display products on trays
For products I reach for often, I like to display them on silver trays. They look pretty sitting on your vanity and it also makes it convenient for you to use certain products. I especially love them for housing lipsticks and lip glosses.
3. Use cups to hold makeup brushes
Using cups to hold your brushes is not only adorable, but also is super convenient! You can easily see and reach for the brushes you need without sorting through a makeup bag. I have found cute little buckets at the Target dollar spot and as well as glamorous looking options at Homegoods. I have even heard of women using champagne glasses to hold their brushes! How chic!
4. Bring out the books and necklaces
Colorful makeup books and statement jewelry look super feminine and chic on your vanity. Its also nice because you can easily access your makeup guides for new looks and inspiration while you are sitting down to get your glam on.
5. It’s okay to have a throw all drawer
Sometimes you just need a place to stash all that random makeup. You know, those products you swear that you will use and you just keep forgetting about them! I use mini card board boxes to house those products I don’t reach for all that often. I actually use little boxes that once held my mini Christmas ornaments. My only tip here is to have an “organized” mess. Put similar products together so you can at least see what it is your not using.
