I get questions all the time on what is the best way to apply foundation. With all the brushes and sponges that have come out recently in the beauty industry, it can get rather confusing on what is the best way to get a flawless face.
Two of the most popular tools to apply your makeup base are the Beauty Blender Sponge and the Flat Top Kabuki Brush. But which is better? Is there a different on the final look when you use one versus the other? Let’s compare!
This unique sponge applicator is a non-disposable product that you can use to apply primers, foundations, powders, creams, and really any other face product.
How does it work?
To use, you squeeze the sponge 10 times under running water so that it expands. You then wrap the Beauty Blender in a paper towel and squeeze out any excess water. This gives you a flawless and streak free application of your foundation. I like to dispense some foundation on the back of my hand and then take my beauty blender and grab some foundation. Then I bounce the sponge all around my face to get an even application.
The Result
You get an even and flawless application that covers all angles of your face. It makes even the heaviest foundations look more natural and dewy. I prefer to use the Beauty Blender with Full Coverage Foundations to sheer them out a little.
The Flat Top Kabuki
This brush has a flat top brush head that is dense with very soft bristles. The density of the bristles prevents it from soaking up excess product, therefore prolonging the shelf life of your foundation products. It is perfect for applying foundation and any other cream products. How does it work?
Apply foundation to the back of your hand. Dip the brush head into the product and begin to buff the foundation all over your face in circular pressing motions.
The Result
Using a dense brush gives you a full coverage foundation look. It is also great for building up sheer to medium coverage foundation to provide a more flawless finish.
The VERDICT
So which is better? If you use more full coverage foundations like Estee Lauder Double Wear than I would suggest getting the Beauty Blender to provide a more even and flawless application. If you are more of a sheer coverage to medium foundation gal than I would suggest getting the Flat Top Kabuki.
Have you tried either of these foundation application methods? Which do you prefer?
