Makeup has always had a very special place in my heart. I remember as a young teen, getting my very first makeup kit. You know those big black fold out makeup cases that they used to sell at JCPenney during the Holiday season for like $25? I got one for Christmas one year and my poor sisters became victims of horrible makeup applications, including purple eyeshadow looks! Even for proms, I remember going to the Clinique makeup counter to get my makeup done and saving up all of my babysitting money just so that I could meet the “minimum purchase amount” to receive my makeover.
Later in life after college, I even went on to attend a makeup course in NYC to begin a career in professional makeup artistry. If you have been around this space for a long time, you know that sharing my makeup looks and tips was how this blog started in the first place! Isn’t it interesting how life takes us in such interesting directions! All that being said, it has been way too long since I have shared some of my favorite products, especially considering my roots!
During the change in seasons, we naturally gravitate toward changing other ways we express ourselves including our home decor, fashion choices, and makeup looks. There a few easy and small changes that I make to my makeup bag during the fall season that I thought I would share with you today!
1. Switch to a Satin or Matte Foundation
Dewy skin has always meant hot sweaty summer months. But as the weather gets cooler, we usually start to wear more makeup. This of course includes our base. Many prefer to go for a BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer in the summer and switch to a heavier product in the winter months. I like Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation all year around, but especially during this time of year.
2. Update to a Warmer Fragrance
Another common change is to shelf the floral and fresh scents and update to a warmer fragrance. Vanilla, musk, amber, or even a woodsy scent are popular choices during this time. I really enjoy the Aerin Lauder Amber Musk Perfume and have been wearing it nonstop!
3. Change to Muted Blushes and Lipsticks
Instead of pinks and peach tones, try a mauve, dusty rose, or berry shade. I really have been enjoying Lawless’ Vintage Love blush and Bobbi Brown’s lipstick in the shade Pink Buff. Both are a lovely dusty muted color and they compliment each other really well.
