There is something nostalgic about putting together your Christmas list each year. I like to make it a ritual of sorts while lighting a candle, playing some music, and drinking a cozy beverage to set the tone. Even though my husband is the only person who sees the list, there is something about the process that reminds me of when I was a little girl, excitedly waiting to see what Santa might bring.

There is nothing wrong with having some specific items in mind to put on your list. I think sometimes we get uncomfortable, and feel guilty about being “so specific.” But never feel bad about being intentional. Plus, I am sure the gift giver will appreciate the direction and simplicity.

If you are a lady who loves to receive new clothes during the holidays, I have gathered up four items (all featured in this look) that I believe are both closet staples and also great gifts to feature on your list this year. You enjoy the pleasure of receiving something new while investing in your closet at the same time.

1. Leather Skirt

Often outshined by her older sister, the leather jacket, the leather skirt is also a versatile pieces that is a great addition to your fall and winter wardrobe. I love pairing mine with tights, booties, and a cozy sweater. But it can also be a great work wear piece or paired with a fun blouse for a fun evening out!

2. Timeless Belt

Big ticket or designer labels are often lusted after during the holiday season. But I encourage you to really think hard before putting a designer item on your list. Make sure you will really love the piece years to come. Belts are an accessory that you know will last for countless years ahead if you treat them kindly. They easily elevate your outfit without much thought or effort. Cinch in an oversized coat, define your waist in dresses, or hold up a loose fitting skirt while looking extra chic!

3. Statement Jacket

Coats and jackets are often found a Christmas list. But make sure the statement will last longer than this current season. Classic prints like houndstooth, plaid, tweed, or a solid color are great options that will not “date” your new winter coat

4. Black Boots

Another item often found on our wish lists are a fun new pair of boots to spice up our look. Just as with the statement coat, be aware of the details on the shoe. Are there things that make it stand out as “too” trendy. If you really want to rock a specific trend this season, there is NOTHING wrong with that. But you can’t go wrong with a pair of black boots that are sure come along with you year after year.
