What I’m Wearing
Skirt: Keepsake // Top: Similar // Block Heels: Steve Madden // Bag: Similar
So don’t kill me for bringing up the holidays. But it is right around the corner! With Halloween Thursday, we can’t help but be reminded with the swirling of events to come. Holiday fashion has always been a favorite of mine, and as I have begun to think about the outfits I will be styling for you, I was reminded of how we see many textures and styles over and over again.
Even if you are not quite ready to dive into the holiday season, you can begin to stay aware of these styles that are sure to be hitting the racks soon. This will give you a head start and allow you some time and flexibility to think about styles that you can add to your closet for the upcoming events and parties. These textures are ones that continue to grace the retailers time and time again. You can rest assured that they will still be around next year again!
Tweed
Often thought of as an office staple, tweed can actually be very festive, especially when it is threaded with some sparkle. It is also the perfect fabric to rock for a holiday work party as it still gives professional presentation while remaining fun and fresh.
Velvet
Not only does velvet give a feeling of luxe, but is also feels so buttery and comfortable on the skin. Fabulous for long evenings and events when you want to look chic for a long period of time without being uncomfortable. Muted and deep tones of velvet look so elegant and timeless.
Sequins
Sparkle and the holidays go together like a match made in the sky. Every lady needs to add a bit of glitter to her closet, even if you are not usually attracted to the “boldness” of the style. It can easily be “toned” down by pairing it back with cozier styles like sweaters, jeans, sneakers and the like. Don’t be afraid to sparkle my darling.
The key to including these textures in your outfits this season is is to choose one or two elements in each look. Try not to go overboard by incorporating them all into one look. I also like to choose one texture of color and the other in a neutral shade. For example, this tweed skirt is black but is threaded with a bit of sparkle, but the top is lovely shade of blush that adds the perfect touch of romance.
What are some of your favorite textures and fabrics to wear during the upcoming holiday season?
Thanks so much for reading today’s post!
