As the world of social media has progressed, I have shared less of my personal life. To be honest, it was not on purpose, but merely an attempt to produce informational and quick content. I know that we are busier than ever before, and our attention spans are getting shorter by the day.
The focus shifted to bringing concise and attractive posts that fit the needs of our fast paces lives. But that didn’t leave much for rambling on about what was going on in my life. This week I have been spending time with my family in Syracuse, New York. I have been posting a lot on my Instagram stories about my parents’ nonagon house that sits on about 80 acres of property. They have a few animals including goats, chickens, a pig, dog, and cat.
I am the oldest of nine children and all of my brothers and sisters still live in the Syracuse area. My parents actually began this farming journey a little after I graduated. I did not actually live here growing up as they moved to New York after I left. So this farming way of life is completely different and new from what my childhood was growing up. It is so interesting to see my brothers and sisters grow up in such a different environment. But I love the joy filled simplicity. You all have been so responsive about me sharing more of my personal life and time with family.
It reminded me of how little you actually see with a simple Instagram feed photo once a day. This feedback from you all has given me the desire to share more of my life with you. It isn’t quite as picture perfect as it may seem, but it is the lens in which I see the world.
I plan to bring you along the journey of my day more often to experience the glamorous and even simple, unglamorous aspects of my day. This week has been full of raw moments spent in nature. I always enjoy the peaceful change and find myself being more reflective.

Your parents’ house looks so interesting! This property looks beautiful too, as are all of these photos. I’ve been trying to share a bit more personal things through my social media, but I keep thinking no one would really care so it’s stopped me from posting a lot.
