This year definitely brought a lot of new experiences and adventures. I love looking back and reflecting on all of the blessings and accomplishments of the previous year and creating new goals for the year to come.
My makeup collection also grew to new lengths this year and I must say I am super happy with the products that I decided to splurge on this year. Here are my compiled beauty favorites of 2014!
Happy New Year!
The Lippies
This summer Too Faced Cosmetics came out with these Melted lipsticks. I love that they apply like a gloss but they dry to a stain and last for hours! I purchased the shades in Melted Peony and Melted Berry and have been wearing them nonstop!
My go to MAC lipstick of the year was definitely in the color Brave. It is that perfect mauve color that mimics the famous “Kylie Jenner” lip. I really like that it is nude enough to wear with a smokey eye but still gives enough color to the lips to avoid the “washed out” look.
I am the first to admit that I do own a lot of palettes. But in my defense, I use all of them! I purchased the Lorac Pro the year before, but it was this year that I really started using it on the regular. I fell in love with its versatility. I adore that fact that the first row of colors are all matte and the bottom row is all shimmer.
This year they came out with the Lorac Pro 2, which I got for Christmas. Even though I have used the original a lot more than the new palette, I know I am going to wear through it just as much as the first!
By far, my favorite purchase of the year was Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in the shade Opal. It is gorgeous. The beige highlighter illuminates your face and brings an angel like glow to the skin. Perfection!
The two blushes I wore SO MUCH this year was Mac Cosmetics Margin and Too Faced Perfect Flush Blush in Candy Glow. Both have a shimmer effect on the skin, but it does not come off as chunky or glittery. Margin is more bronze in color and Candy Glow is that perfect flushed pink shade.
Make Up For Ever HD Powder is such a great setting powder and won me over this year by its natural finish to the skin. I love that is sets my foundation and increases its wear time without looking cakey or powdery.
The Essentials
I am a big advocate of prepping your skin for foundation. I found that this new Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing primer really does make my pore appear smaller as well as mattify my skin and decrease oil production throughout the day.
As much as I adore falsies, there are just days I do not want to bother with them. Too Faced Better than Sex mascara is my go to mascara. I have naturally short and light lashes. I find that this mascara really does volumize and lengthen my little lashes.
My favorite foundation over the last few years has been Make Up Forever HD. But this year I found a foundation that I actually like A LOT! I love how much coverage it gives to the skin without looking heavy. It really does wear for 15 hours (I know because I accidentally slept in it once- I know! So bad!) And it covers my redness very well!
My biggest beauty “accomplishment” this year was paying more attention to my brows. I love this brow wiz by Anastasia because it has a brow spoolie and a pencil. I use this guy to fill in my brows every single day. This was another must have purchase this year!
I hope this next year is filled with many joys and beauty favorites!
