It is truly amazing how an article of clothing that was originally a utilitarian garment could become the glamorous wardrobe staple that it has become today. The first was created in 1919 to be used for aviation and sky diving. Hence the name, jumpsuit, which quite literall was meant for jumping out of the sky! Then it was Elsa Schiaparelli who created the first high-fashion jumpsuit at the end of the 1930’s. Her collection was actually inspired by the upcoming war. The jumpsuit has evolved since those times as our beloved Hollywood stars have embraced the style throughout the years.
Aside from the one major downside (the fact that you have to practically get naked to pee) a jumpsuit is such a major and elegant twist to your usual party wear item. You will make a statement and steal the show, plus get bonus points for being different. Wear it to a cocktail party, wedding, date night, you name it. Finding Your Perfect Fit
Finding the right fit with a jumpsuit is similar to finding a pair of jeans. You will want to follow the same rules, such as Petite ladies should find a cropped style. Pear shapes can opt for a bootcut leg style. Straight and athletic shapes can show off their legs with a skinny or straight leg style, or create the illusion of curves with a flared leg style. Sleeve style is up to your preference. If you are not crazy about your arms, go for a cap sleeve. If you love to show some skin, got for a plunge neck. The choice is yours. The main fit concerns are making sure the length is correct and that it fits your waist area snuggly without hugging too much. To be honest, this jumpsuit is still slightly big on me.
