I’m back with another motherhood post for you today! One thing that kept coming back in my feedback from you all was that you wanted to see other categories like beauty and motherhood here more on the blog. I heard you, and it has actually been really refreshing to bring some newness to the space. Last month, I started a new series called #momlife. You can search that hashtag on my site to bring up all of my motherhood content! I plan on making a monthly blog post dedicated to #momlife things for all of my fellow mommas! We can use this as a place to share advice and learn tips and tricks from each other. If you missed my post last month on Surviving the Toddler Stage, be sure to check it out!

Now that Oliver is 19 months, I am really seeing him soak up so much knowledge.I see his little brain absorbing everything and processing all of this new and exciting information. Now that I have transitioned to being a work from home mom, I wanted to spend more time looking for ways that I could spend playing and interacting with him. Having studied Education in college, I wanted to find toys that could also be used for learning. But as you know, kids will be kids and sometimes they just want to play for the sake of playing, and that is a beautiful thing! Oh to be a child again.

When I was looking for new toys to introduce to him at this new stage, I was stumped with the enormous amounts of information out there and felt torn as to what toys to actually get. Over time, we have slowly started to grow his little toy collection with a combination of educational and “just for fun” items. Today, I wanted to share with you some of the toys that he has really been loving lately in hopes it might help some of you mommas or give you inspiration. And I would of course love for you to share your knowledge and advice as well, so that we can both learn from each other!

Toys Oliver Loves Right Now

One item that we have been spending a lot of time with is his farm puzzle. Grandma and grandpa got this for him for Christmas because they live on a farm! We have loved learning our animal sounds and making silly faces with this one!

If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen a few stories of us pushing little Oliver around our apartment complex in his car. I love when he steers the wheel one handed like a real cool boy. This has been huge hit, and he usually cries when it is time to go back inside!

Mega Bloks have not only been a fun source of playtime, but also a way that I have started to teach him his colors. Plus it helps to develop their fine motor skills by stacking the blocks into each other.

Oliver loves all of the typical boys things, and that definitely includes cars. He has a massive collection already. Some of his favorite vehicle type of toys are his Fisher-Price airplane, Fisher-Price school bus, VTech dump truck, Melissa & Doug Animal Truck, and Melissa and Doug pull back vehicles

A few of the more educational toys we like are the Melissa & Doug music box, Melissa & Doug cutting food box, and the Melissa and Doug shape sorting box. I also have a few more puzzles from them in my Amazon cart right now that I want to get to focus more on our colors and shapes.

Books Oliver Loves Right Now

I have been reading to Oliver since he was a little nugget in my belly. But as my mommas know, reading to your child when they are young usually entails them sitting through 1-3 pages before taking the book from your hand, twisting it upside down, and then throwing it across the room! Some days we sit really well together and read, and others he just wants to be silly. And that is just how it is going to be. I do notice that he enjoys some books a lot more than others. His absolute favorite is llama llama Red Pajama. I have also being using the A is for Apple book to start teaching him his letters. He loves the flip pockets inside. His other two latest favorites have been Where is Baby’s Belly Button and My First Peek-a-Boo Animals. He has a thing for peek-a-boo books right now!

I would love for my fellow mommas to join in the conversation and leave some of your child’s favorite books or toys in the comment section below. Or feel free to direct message me on Instagram as well!

Thanks so much for reading.
