Coming back from Charleston to this dreary Dallas weather has me itching for spring more than ever. My mind has already started to wander, dreaming of sunshine, fresh flowers and all the pastel fabrics. Spring fashion has been my favorite over the past few years. Maybe it is because I have lived in warmer climates since being married and the majority of my wardrobe leans toward that type of weather. Needless to say, I do know a thing or two about preparing your wardrobe for the upcoming spring season!
Before running out and buying a bunch of spring clothing, take a look at these 3 tips and see how you really need to prepare your wardrobe for spring!
1. Focus on Accessories First
I know that statement might come as a shock. But I am sure that over the years you have started to hoard a small collection of floral dresses. That is not where you need to begin your spring wardrobe. Take a look at your warm weather shoes. Are they beat up? Stained? Could you use a new pair of sandals? What about wedges. If you focus your budget on accessories first, you might be surprised at what you don’t need to buy in terms of clothing.
2. Don’t Neglect Your Outerwear
I know you are desperate to lock your winter coat in storage. But that doesn’t mean you are done with layering. As you know, temperatures during this time of year are extremely unpredictable. So layering is often a necessity. This is a great time to look at your jackets and see if any of them need updating. Some ideas of jackets to upgrade would be denim jacket, leather jacket, suede moto jacket, and a trench coat.
3. Refresh Your Makeup Look
Switching out your matte foundation for a more skin like or dewy finish brings that youthfulness back your your face. Tuck away your trusty nudes and opt for some pinks or coral shades for a fun pop of color. Simply giving your makeup look a refresh can make you feel more spring ready.
Now that you have considered your accessories, outerwear, and makeup, you can now take a look at your clothing items. Maybe you really do need another floral dress after all. Take the time to make a list of your spring wardrobe wants and you will find yourself more prepared for the spring season.
