My vision for Glam Life Living has changed quite dramatically in the past six months to a year. Aside from my love affair with all things 1950s, it was actually my closet that gave me a totally different outlook on my fashion needs. One day I looked in my closet and I saw nothing but fleeting trends. I thought to myself, “how could I possibly feel like I have nothing to wear. I am a fashion blogger for heaven sake. Why do I feel like I can’t wear anything in my closet!” That moment made me realize that it was time to change my perspective and buying method to clothing. I resolved to investing in more pieces that I would wear over and over again, but still brought me happiness and joy.
I am still a long way from building a classic closet, but I wanted to share with you some items that I believe are timeless essentials that you will not regret having hung in your wardrobe!
1. A Tie Neck Blouse
Every lady needs a chic and elegant top that can transition from that important work meeting to a dinner date afterward. A tie neck blouse is exactly that. You wear her for when you are trying to impress your boss or your best gal pals. She will never let you down! This one that I am wearing is made of satin and an excellent price point.
2. A Midi Skirt
This is an item that many of today’s modern woman tend to neglect. Because we live in a more casual age that involve a lot of denim, we tend to forgo the skirt. But if you work a job that requires you to get a little more dressed up, a midi skirt is the perfect alternative to the pencil skirt. You can also wear it for your romantic dinners out when you are not feeling like wearing a dress!
3. Leather Block Heel Bootie
A classic black boot is exactly that, classic. And a block heel is the most comfortable option of wear, so you can rock them all day long. Black will go perfectly with all of your winter and fall wardrobe essentials.
4. Fleece Tights
A big reason so many of us decide against wearing dresses and skirts in the winter is the cold draft we feel when the striking wind rushes up our skirts! A pair of fleece tights really do bring you some added warmth. I wear mine with my black booties and skirts all winter long!
5. A Structured Handbag
Give me all of the vintage handbags! Even if a circle bag is not your thing, pick a structure that emulates your style. Box bags or a square tote can be excellent styles as well! Opt for a solid color that will go with most of your clothing.
Do you look at your closet and see a bunch of fleeting trends? These 5 staples will begin your journey toward a timeless wardrobe!
Thanks so much for reading.
