I have always had an obsession with handbags. Even growing up I had a wall of hooks that held numerous styles and colors. Of course many were hand me downs from my mother, but twice a year I would pick up a new bag from Pac Sun. I remember during my high school years, Juicy Couture was the big label that was carried around in my small town school in Ohio. I remember feeling utterly baffled at the amount of money my peers had spent on their one bag. I recall thinking that I would much rather have a wall of affordable handbags as opposed to just one.
It’s funny how our opinions change with age. As an adult, I admire the craftsmanship that goes into making a designer bag and often wish I could afford more. But the reality is that this girl is still on a budget! But the beauty in studying the fashion world and familuarlizing myself with different designer brands is that I can spot other lower end brands dupe of the original designer model. And I have to say, Target has been so on point with their bags recently!
As my love affair with old movies and 1050s glamour continues, I have been drawn to a particular designer brand, Mark Cross. Their bags are undeniably pricey. But one bag that I have adored is their Grace Box Bag. They actually modeled the design of the handbag after the overnight bag that Grace Kelly brought with her in the old movie Rear Window. So when I walked into Target recently and spotted this bag, I was shocked by their similarity!
If fashion is even a slight interest to you, I do suggest brushing up on some brands. Even if you never plan on splurging on an item, you can gain so much shopping knowledge and obtain an eye for high quality items. If you know your stuff, you can spot a diamond in the rough that looks like a luxe brand you admire!
