Some years you are just not ready for the Holiday season. You blink and before you know it, Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Maybe the weather where you live just doesn’t feel like Winter is coming, or perhaps you just can’t get yourself excited for the Holidays. Whatever the reason you are feely less than cheery, I have rounded up 5 tips to fill you with joyful anticipation.
1. Start Playing Christmas Music
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Elf
Even if you are a little hesitant to turn on that Holiday music, I noticed that after some time it grows on you. Create the ambiance with Christmas decor and begin your Holiday playlist. If you are consciously making a decision to turn it on as opposed to catching it on the radio, you are more likely to ease into the process.
2. Pick Up Some Festive Candles
Our sense of smell triggers memories and emotions. It truly has tremendous power over our feelings. After lighting my favorite peppermint candle, it immediately made me feel joyful with anticipation for the Christmas season.
3. Indulge in a Holiday Mani/Pedi
Yesterday I treated myself to a mani/pedi at my favorite salon here in Dallas, called Bellacures. They are known for their high cleanliness standards and I always feel pampered when I am there. I went for a matching red on both my hands and feet. But I was so tempted to go for the glitter!
4. Test Out a New Hot Cocoa Recipe
Last year I decided to go the homemade route for hot chocolate. I tried several recipes before I found the right one. This recipe is dairy free and delicious. I have been cozying up with a cup of cheer during the evenings as I write my blog posts!
5. Treat Yourself to a New Red Lipstick
I might have jumped a little prematurely on sporting my Holiday reds, but that was honestly the first way that I started feeling festive. I have been wearing this Charlotte Tilbury one nonstop. Last year I wore the Dior 999 on repeat. But find a shade that compliments your complexion, but also feels cherry and bright!
