Valentine's Day Breakfast in Bed Ideas

One of the most romantic things that  you can do for a person is to cook a meal for them. So much consideration, love, and even sweat can go into a home cooked meal. I have never been much of a chef. I do try to eat at home as often as possible, so I have learned to make simple entrees that work well for my family. But setting an elaborate tablescape and gorgeous dinner presentation on a weeknight is definitely not my thing.

But there are certain occasions that call for a little more elbow grease. On Valentine’s Day, I like to prepare at least one meal for my husband. Last year we did a low key but romantic dinner at home that you can see in this post. But this year, I wanted to go simple but still thoughtful.

Waking up early to surprise your loved one with either a beautifully set table or breakfast in bed is a fabulous way to show them how much they mean to you. Today I have rounded up 5 easy breakfasts that you can quickly make in the morning, even before you head out the door for work that day! These 5 breakfasts are not only fast to make, but also adorable! I call that a double win!

One of the biggest tips I have in making a meal seem romantic is to put in the effort of setting the atmosphere. Even if it is a simple breakfast, play some music, set the table, and even add a few decorations.  Get creative when it comes to the decor. You don’t need to go out and buy a bunch of new Valentine’s Day items. Cut hearts out of paper, or even find some fun printable items online. I love the site The Dating Divas for printables and date ideas. I found this cute card on their site to add to the heart theme. If you are a guy still looking for some gift ideas for your lady, I have some options in this post

I know how hard it can be to wake up even earlier to set the stage for a romantic breakfast. But even if you just take 10 extra minutes to do one of these simple ideas, I am sure it will make your partner feel appreciated. I actually think these simple breakfast ideas are also great things to make for your kids on Valentine’s day if you are a parent. Or if you are hosting a Galentine’s Day brunch, you can use a few of these options as well!

1. Heart Shaped Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

bread, avocado, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper

How to Make it:

Simply toast the bread and cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter. Or if you don’t have one on hand, you can use a knife to create the shape, like I did! Mash some fresh avocado on top and spread it out evenly over the top. Top with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.

Ingredients:

frozen waffles, maple syrup, powdered sugar, strawberries

How to Make It:

This one is a total win for those of us who have an early morning, but still want to do something special for our loved ones. Simply pop some waffles in the toaster and cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter. Top with your favorite toppings such as powered sugar, maple syrup, and strawberries.

3. Strawberry/Raspberry Toast

Ingredients: cream cheese, strawberry or raspberry jelly, bread, fresh fruit (preferably red)

How to Make It:

Simply toast the bread and spread with cream cheese and your choice of jam. Top with fresh fruit. You can definitely keep the Valentine’s Day theme by sticking to a red color theme.

4. Egg Bakes

Ingredients: eggs, cheese, vegetables (onion, peppers, spinach), milk

How to Make It:

Chop your vegetables of choice and set aside. Crack enough eggs to fill your muffin pans. I used about one egg per space (so 6 total). Whip eggs in a bowl and add milk and cheese. Pour the mixture into the spaces, leaving a little room for expansion. Add diced vegetables once the egg mixture is in the tin. You can top with cheese if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Check up on it often.

5. Strawberry Smoothies

Ingredients:

frozen strawberries, banana, milk (almond or regular), yogurt. Optional: rolled oats, honey

How to Make It:

Simply add the proportion of ingredients you desire and blend! I recommend 1/2-1 cup of yogurt and/ or oats.
