4 Tips on Finding Inspiration + DIY Vision Board

May 22, 2017

4 Tips for Regaining Inspiration + DIY Vision Board for Home OfficeI have always been a pretty determined person. Starting around 7th grade, I realized that school didn’t come easy for me. I struggled in a couple of classes, and realized that if I wanted to get good grades, then I was going to have to work a little harder than everyone else. By 8th grade, I was a straight A student and I stayed that way all the way through college. Now, by no means do I write that to brag. I say this because some things come easier to some people than others. But that doesn’t mean that with a little extra effort, we can’t also achieve those same things.

This same fire and spirit has stayed with me during the course of my life, until recently. For the first time, I felt like I lost my motivation. Things that used to excite me, didn’t anymore and I was struggling to gain a little inspiration for change. I think the main reason for this is probably pregnancy. My mom says that there were times during her pregnancies that she also felt a loss of motivation. I could use my pregnancy as an excuse to continue on feeling this way, or I could make an effort to change it. It wasn’t easy, but I found a way to regain my inspiration. And I wanted to share a couple of things I did to make that happen. So, let’s dive in!

1. Pick Up a Good Book

If you are having a hard time coming up with reasons to do something, then maybe someone else can light a fire under you. Books are a great way to ignite something inside of you that maybe you haven’t felt in a long time. I have been reading Grace Not Perfection by Emily Ley and starting it was definitely the beginning of this journey.

2. Utilize Pinterest

We all know Pinterest to be the guru of all things inspiration. But how often do we pin something and then totally forget about? I made a secret board and started pinning images that made me happy or demonstrated a type of lifestyle I wanted. Then I wrote down why I thought I saved those images and made a list of things I should incorporate into my life to bring more happiness.

3. Make a Vision Board to Display

Pinterest is great. But sometimes we need something staring us in the face every day to remind of us our goals and aspirations. We live in a digital age, but that doesn’t mean that we should neglect doing things just because we could do it on the computer. I decided to make an actual vision board to hang above my desk to motivate me on a daily basis.

4. Don’t Give Up

Inspiration always returns. Keep fighting for it and you will find it. If you are interested in how I made my DIY Vision Board here is how I did it!
