I think most of us have had a couple of those moments when you stop and realize that you haven’t been taking care of yourself. I had a realization the other day that I have been neglecting self care and I had allowed the stresses and crazy events to affect every area of my life. I then remembered that if I take care of myself first, then I can take better care of those around me. And we could all use an excuse to pamper ourselves. Am I right?!

Tonight I am making it a priority to schedule a little pamper night for myself. This can be a really special experience if you put in a little extra effort to make it festive. I know that the Holidays can be a very stressful time, and taking a moment to breath and relax will do wonderful things for your physical and mental health. So let’s destress together! Today, I am walking you through my pamper routine.

Holiday Inspired Pamper Routine with DIY Scrub

1. Collect Your Pampering Must Haves

The first step in my routine is to collect all my favorite little pamper items. That of course includes bath salts, bubble bath, bath bombs, candles, face masks, books, wine/ tea, and relaxing music. I have been wanting to create little kit like this that I keep under my bathroom sink ready to go. That way it is ready for those days where you need an emergency bath 😉 You can find all kinds of bath goodies this time of year. I found these Lavender Bath Bombs at Homegoods.

2. Set the Mood

This is the part that definitely takes some effort, but it is well worth it! While my bath water is running, I will light candles, put on Pandora Relaxation Radio or Christmas Radio for the season, make myself a cup of tea, and grab my current read. I am currently reading Radical Beauty by Kimberly Snyder right now, and loving it!

3. Skin Care

I will always pamper my skin during this time by cleansing my skin with my favorite olive oil cleanser by Vasseur Skincare and mixing up my clay mask. You can read more about that mask HERE. Sometimes I will sit in the bath while I let my face mask dry.

4. Body Scrub

If I really want to treat myself, I DIY a body scrub. I am loving this Candy Cane Body Scrub at the moment. It leaves your skin clean and so soft. You can use it as a body scrub or even a lip scrub. It could also be a great gift idea! Here is how to make it!

Ingredients:

2 tbsp of Crushed Candy Canes

1 3/4 Cup of White Sugar

2 tbsp of Castile Soap

1/2 Cup of Sweet Almond Oil or Coconut Oil

15 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil

Mix all of the ingredients together except for the candy canes and peppermint essential oil. Once it is all mixed, fold in the candy cane pieces and add the essential oil drops. You can put it in a cute jar, create a label, throw a ribbon on it, and call it a gift!
