Happy Monday Everyone!
One of my favorite parts of working for a makeup company was listening to the beauty mistakes and lessons of many different women on a regular basis. I would have the cutest little old ladies come up to me and offer me their stories and secrets that have come with the many years of acquired beauty knowledge. “Say out of the sun,” “Use SPF.” or even “don’t forget your neck!” The main thing I learned from all my little old lady friends was that if you want to look your best at every age, you need to adapt beauty practices now that will help you in years to come!
Especially in the evening, it can be difficult to stay motivated on keeping a nightly beauty regimen. At the end of a work day, we are tired from all the daily events and we want nothing more than to just “chill” with our loved ones. But the truth is if we put a few of these rituals into practice now, we will thank ourselves big time later in life! Even if you are mid life already, its better to start now than not at all!
Don’t feel like you need to do all of these things in order to “age gracefully.” Pick and choose what practices will work for you and just start!
1. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
Honey, I don’t care what your skin type is or how old you are, you NEED to be moisturizing. And I am not just talking about just your face either! Your neck and hands actually are the areas on your body that age the quickest. So load up on that hand cream, body moisturizer, and night cream. Here are a few of my favorite moisturizers for all areas of your body!
Face: Vasseur Skincare SuperMoist
Neck: Tula Advanced Neck Cream (I had this sent to me and I love it! It is a little pricey though!)
Hand Cream: Nubian Heritage Raw Shea Butter Hand Cream
Body Moisturizer: Kiehls Creme De Corps Body Moisturizer
2. Mask It Up!
There is a mask for just about every problem or concern in the beauty world. Large pores? Dry skin? dull hair? You name it, they got it. All jokes aside, masks are a great way to target several different concerns you might have. Two ares you might want to focus on is face masks and hair masks. Here are a few of my favorites for each.
Face Masks: Indian Aztec Indian Clay Mask and Vasseur Skincare Maxiclear
Hair Masks: Coconut Oil and eSalon Deeply Invest Nourishing Hair Mask
3. Stress Relief and Sleep
Before you roll your eyes because you have heard it all before, let me defend myself! I can personally attest that your beauty is sacrificed when you are not getting enough sleep or you are dealing with a lot of stress. My skin in particular tends to breakout and look dull when I am not taking care of my body. Beauty sleep is a real thing people! Here are a few of my favorite practices on unwinding before bed.
Tea Time: Tea is both good for you and helps your body to unwind. One of my favorites is Yogi Stress Relief Tea.
Melatonin Pill 30 Minutes Before Bed: I often have difficultly staying asleep at times. Melatonin helps me stay asleep better.
Light Some Candles: Atmosphere can really affect your mood. I find when I light a few candles in the evening, it really helps prepare me for sleep.
Read Instead of Watching TV: On the nights that I get into my bed a little earlier to do some reading, I find that I sleep better. The lights and noise of a TV can make us unprepared for bed. I have a blog post on my favorite books that I have read this year coming soon!
You lifestyle decisions play the biggest role in how you look. Live a healthy life and you will naturally appear more beautiful! Happy Body = Beautiful Body!
